Apple Users Will Appreciate These Prints Comments Off

Hardcore Windows users will scratch their heads and complain about Apple Fanboys, but the mac fans will like these. How many do you think will be hanging in design firms soon?

Psystar Open Computer Tested Comments Off

Engadget received one of Psystar’s Open Computers, and played around with it for a few hours. They formed some opinions on it and they share it with their readers, along with a video. Overall it was a positive experience except the fan on the thing is way too loud. So loud in fact that they couldn’t see dealing with it on a daily basis. That fact alone probably makes me think twice about purchasing one.

They also reports that the next-gen iPhone with 3G and GPS has been spotted. Interesting if true

Apple Updates it’s iMac 0

In a surprising Monday morning move, Apple has updated it’s iMac models with Core 2 Duo Penryn processors. Now for $1,199 you get a 20-inch iMac with 2.4GHz processor and 128MB of ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics. It still comes with 1GB of memory and a 250GB 7200RPM disk. The 24-inch model has been upgraded to a 3.06GHz processor. It also comes with a very nice 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphic card, with the standard 2GB of memory and 320GB 7200rpm disk drive for $2,199.

Nice, but is it too much to ask for 2GB on the $1,199 model? If I bought this computer I would have to upgrade it just for all of the graphic heavy programs I run.

Build Your Own Mac 0

So, I had a thought to make my own mac. Now there are lots of different ways to go about this, and from my research, these seem to be the best:

  • MacOpz wants to show you how to make your own G4. Outdated, but still a nice tutorial.
  • Lifehacker has detailed plans on building a “hackintosh” for under $800. However, you can actually do this cheaper by using less RAM and a smaller Hard Drive.
  • Build your own Mac Mini. Actually, this computer might be more powerful than a Mac Mini.
  • iHacked has a nice step by step of getting a DIY Mac up and running as well.

I hope these are helpful to you. I’ll post more as I find them.
