Nice Favicon Generator and Gallery for anyone looking for that type of thing. I honestly don’t think you need a cool icon for your site, but it doesn’t hurt having a little something, up on the tab. IE 7 also displays favicons in the browser tabs. Just don’t sweat it if your icon doesn’t live up to the rest of your site.
